Brainstorming Ideas for the Letter to Evo Morales
- We would like to thank Evo Morales for taking on the struggle and commitment to represent not only Indigenous peoples in Bolivia and around the world but express gratitude that he has become a role model and a representative for all human rights.
- Recognize the importance of his struggle against the privatization of water and how he continues the fight by addressing the issue as a human right in the Bolivian constitution.
- Telecommunication as a human right to allow the world to keep in touch with Bolivia’s struggles and process and to allow Bolivian’s the right to address the world.
- [something regarding] Education and health as human rights
- Acknowledge that Canadian’s recognize the importance of his appointment and what it means for Bolivian’s as well as all Indigenous peoples around the world and that we are able to see past the negative images of him and view media portrayals of him with a critical eye.
- Encourage him to have patience and show prudence in his decisions in that it will take time to have the changes he wants realized and because the process will likely be slow he should consider the importance of such changes and prioritize his actions with care.
- As well, he is likely to encounter international criticism and that patience and perseverance will be needed to overcome such obstacles.
- His appointment has surpassed the notion of the modern state in terms of equality and equal representation.
