As an update to the process in which a new vision of reality is being harnessed by forceful and clear-minded indigenous peoples, let me let you know that Evo Morales, the first indigenous president in the Abya-Yala, has been on a hunger strike for the past 4 days. The rightist opposition (reduced to controlling the Senate) does not allow the law for general elections to be passed. Evo Morales and all other social leaders have done what they have been doing for decades: declare themselves on hunger strike. The hunger strike is igniting the country and there are about a thousand local leaders following this drastic measure. Internationally as well Bolivians are declaring themselves on hunger strike to accompany our President.

Please reflect on the fact that those that have nothing else to lose, put their lives in peril with these kind of measures, but that is the only thing they can do. Change is coming and there is no way back to the past. But this change is very hard to be brought about. A shift in collective consciousness is the only real change that can really make for true sustainable communities.

Thanks for having shared this class with me. You guys will be in my heart whenever I learn or teach something!
